Dr. Kohls is absolutely correct. After 72 years of fluoridation, 62 years of fluoridated toothpaste, a glut of fluoridated dental products (and in higher concentrations), a fluoride saturated food supply, fluoride-containing medicines and fluoride-containing pesticide residues on foods, tooth decay is still at epidemic proportions. But dentists have caused a new public health epidemic - fluoride overdose. Dental fluorosis - white spotted, yellow, brown and/or pitted teeth now afflict 58% of US adolescents, according to federal data.

People have to take back their water supplies from the special interest groups and demand that unnecessary, ineffective, health-robbing, unethical fluoride chemicals cease being added to their bodies via the water supply and foods made with the water purchased in supermarkets and restaurants.

There is no dispute between those against fluoridation and fluoridation lobbyists that too much fluoride damages teeth and bones. How much fluoride did you eat today? Who knows, because fluoride does't have to be on food and beverage labels even though it's in there.

Fluoride is neither a nutrient nor essential for healthy teeth. Consuming a fluoride free diet does not cause tooth decay. Rotten diets make rotten teeth and no amount of fluoride has or will change that.

Fluoridation is still promoted with well-funded, politically powerful groups which are more concerned with political viability than your teeth.

Given the inaccuracies of consultants hired by ISD 709 and other's, it seems the only reasonable assumptions that can be made are: 1). They lack the expertise and/or information to make accurate predictions? 2). They are being hired to NOT be objective so as to come to a conclusion that is favored by certain players? 3). They are simply incompetent?
There may be other assumptions, but, bottom line, that is exactly what they are, assumptions. One thing is crystal clear: Things are not getting better for our district. Isn't it time someone is held accountable for the lack of progress being made on issues of equality and achievement? I believe it is past time.

The whole act of subversion, of causing a scene, of speaking out against injustice in all its myriad forms is outside any construct of timeliness. If these patches and the decision to wear them isn't "in the spirit of Homegrown," people need to reexamine their definitions of what creates and maintains a music and art scene. It isn't ludicrously priced oil paintings of timber wolves and pine trees, or horrifying, neck-bearded banjo music. It's artists creating, making, saying, and doing in order to change people's minds, to incite, and to subvert. That Duluth allows - and continues to allow by turning a blind (pig) eye - someone like Rod Raymond to function and "contribute" to the city's economy via his multitude of over-wrought, over-priced, pseudo-hip establishments, is nothing but a call to action. His presence means that we as Duluthians are not only making sexual harassment and abuse acceptable, but that we are essentially paying people like Rod Raymond to perpetrate these acts. This isn't about Homegrown. This isn't about a metal band. This is about saying what needs to be said when it needs saying. Those patches and the message they send say everything they were designed to: Rod Raymond is a Filthy Pig.

And we the people voted who into office for president?

I think your recommendations are spot on. The district must get some concessions this round of contract negotiations. Any raises in wage and/or benefits would come at the expense of the teacher's eating their own.
The vacant properties MUST be sold. The district does not have the luxury of holding out for an ideal buyer. The fact that the district turned down 15-20 million dollars is inexcusable given the financial state of the budget.
The compensatory monies must go to the schools that earn them. To do less defeats the purpose of these monies. They are not intended for balancing the general budget.
If the district is going to be throwing dollars willy-nilly at consultants, how about a consultant to look into ways to restructure the red plan debt payments?
A grant writer would likely pay for themselves. It is a must.
Finally, the public needs to be more involved. I believe people like Cory Kirsling and the parents involved with getting the tire mulch issue sorted is a good start. This district, the board and especially this administration needs all the help they can get.

Thanks for confirming that there was a place called 10,000 Seashells! No one I've ever mentioned it to has heard of it. AND my dad would never stop either! Not until I was 17 and I didn't care anymore and the place was on it's last legs. I'm sorry you never got to stop but I'm pretty sure the idea of the place was always better than the real thing.

Why do you keep saying "lost"? Polly wasn't lost. She knows the neighborhood better than I do. She was grabbed by two girls who thought it would be a great idea to take her away. If they had just left well enough alone, the kitty would have had a safe, warm place to sleep and food in its belly in the same place she always had those things: at her home.

I'm not trying to "paint" anybody as anything. I'm describing what happened. Animal Allies is refusing to return a cat to its rightful owner. I'm not making that up. If they look bad, it's because of what they're doing.

^^ CLEARLY you have no regard for this person's pain. The cat wasn't LOST, it was in plain sight and someone took it. In all likelihood if it were left alone, it would have come back. You've clearly never owned a cat, the cats around my block know where their owner's house is. They were looking for the cat, excuse them for not thinking to call a single place! Animal Allies is a TERRIBLE name for an organization that is clearly separating a cat from its original owner. This five day policy should be waived in this case because the owner came to claim the cat with proof. So, CALL the interested adoptive party and tell them the owners were found. Sounds like this is more of a thing of money if the organization is charging for people to adopt animals, and they'd be losing out if they were to just give a cat back to its owners when they can pass it off as lost and claim they're doing good. This is disgusting.

^^John, maybe you can start a petition in your town to get your cat back? Companies respond to backlash, and I'm sure pet owners would be outraged and support you on this. Or try reaching out to the party trying to adopt your cat, hopefully they'll be more compassionate than "Animal Allies."

I would contact them if Animal Allies gave me their information, which they won't. I guess I don't blame them for keeping that info private. But they wouldn't be losing out on anything if they gave Polly back. I'd still have to pay the adoption fee and vaccination fee and everything else. (Even though her vaccinations are up to date, I guess she gets to enjoy getting vaccinated again.)

Most of you seem to be a bit confused. It is ILLEGAL to let your cat free roam in the city. It is the responsible thing to do if you see a cat roaming to bring it to animal control - as you would assume it's lost or a stray....since they aren't supposed to be walking around without a leash.
Also, I'm sure they aren't doing this for money since they charge a reclaim fee for lost pets. So John would be paying money to get the cat back anyway.
