Article Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names…

The Christians can turn the other cheek until they turn red. They like to feed the homeless and true Catholic pacifists hate war. That is the mark of a true Christian. Funny or not.

Article Parklets and islands and headaches, oh my

So, I want to point out that for $8,000 spent to build a parklet, a tiny house on wheels (with a bench attached to an outside wall) could have been built to house one of Duluth's inordinate number of homeless people. I am fairly certain there would have been little objection from the lucky owner to park in a convenient location for professionals to socialize on their lunch break, perhaps a different coffee shop each day, while taking advantage of the comfortable bench. This would also solve the revenue loss from parking spot being tied up 24 hours each day. That $6.75 per day savings could be invested in the building of more tiny house/moving parklets? Too bad the business owners might be a bit put off by the fact that a formerly homeless person was responsible for keeping the parklet from loitering in any one location for too long.

Question Best Service (non-restaurant)

replied to: Next year should offer "Doorman" "Bouncers"…

I agree with this suggestion. If there's going to be a "service" type category--think about including: "best bar staff", "best wait-person", etc. etc. much like how City Pages does their annual thing.

Question Worst TV Personality

Actually many (as in 8-9) years ago, I knew people who delivered food to their/her residence...they...umm...didn't really tip...ever. :/ Maybe you guys are on the right track.

Article Parklets and islands and headaches, oh my

Parklets induce a gag reflex just for the name alone: They're cute, like Chiclets! Plus I suspect they're catching on mainly because of civic leaders who want a cheap way to avoid real urban planning. On the other hand, I predicted no one would use them and people apparently do, though I have no idea why. Cars roar by a few feet from where you sit, spewing dust and exhaust into your latte and chicken salad wrap.

Article America’s Mental Ill Health, Suicide and Dementia…

dr. kohls,
I have been taking psychotropic drugs for 19 years now (tegretol and Seroquel) and trazodone for 8 years. I want to get offof them. tried decreasing trazodone but wasn't successful, had serious withdrawal symptoms. Psychiatrist I have been seeing wants me to get off thesedrugs but he is not knowledgeable as you are. can you recommend any docs in northern calif area preferably near san Francisco or Stanford to help me get off of these drugs, they are not helping me at all and never have helped. my life is a continuous battle with the side effects of never having any drive, or motivation before on these drugs I was a highly functional person, now i'm not and have not been functional for 19 years!!!!!!

Question Worst Local Radio Personality

this morning Brad commented on wolves killing a calf. I guess he forgot that if people didn't eat meat the calf might not have been there to begin with and also that that same calf later would have been slaughtered and eaten by people! Another factor not mentioned in the decline of the moose herd is the fact that the climate is too hot, optimal temps for moose are about 45 degrees. Thanks for thinking this through Brad! You're so smart!
