We saw the old trestle, trestle footings, and old ties. We didn't see any of the culverts, so we might not have been looking close enough?

Hi, my name is Caitee, and I (proudly) live in Wyoming. I just wanted to make you aware that Teton County is in no way representative of the rest of the state. It's one of our geographically smallest and least populated counties. If you talk to any Wyomingite who lives outside of its boundaries (which would be roughly 475,000 people who you're ignoring in this article - more than have died to date of COVID-19 in the entire United States) they'll tell you that Teton County isn't at all like the rest of the state. Why? Because it's been overrun by Hollywood Elites, billionaire hedge fund managers from the east coast, wall street thugs, and the like. By and large, the rest of us are normal, hardworking people who just want to live our lives and are grateful that we have to pay less in taxes. This makes us able to be much more self sufficient. Outside of Teton County, many families can live quite comfortably on a $50,000 salary. Can you say the same in Detroit? Take a look beyond Jackson Hole, and start looking at Fremont County, or Sweetwater County, or Natrona or Laramie County (home of Casper and Cheyenne, respectively - our two most populated cities). Even Albany County - home of the town we affectionately call "Liberal Laramie" which, incidentally, is where I grew up - is FAR more representative of Wyoming than Teton County. Please don't tar us with the same brush as the billionaires in Jackson. I am begging you. They're leeches. I implore you to open your eyes to how Wyoming's friendly tax policies help small businesses and middle class families thrive, instead of focusing on the bad apples in Jackson Hole that none of us really like either. I'm gonna back Caitee on this, you definitely have incited potential ill regard on Wyomingites as a whole, when the county that your piece was about is an absolute anomaly here in Wyoming. For those of you that don't live here, travelling to Teton county and Yellowstone Park would be no different for all of us in Wyoming that don't live near Yellowstone. Meaning a planned vacation, requiring a good chunk of money, time off from work, accomodations booked a year in advance if you aren't going in an RV, which you will still need to book camping spots for, plus all of the fees at each pay booth for each site not covered by the national park fee, which isn't cheap. It's always been the case that only the rich live around yellowstone. Everyone else is usually seasonal like the ski resort staff in winter, or the park staff in the summer, or professional contractors. I looked into it once when some friends and I thought about sharing an apartment and working at a resort for a season as an easier way to enjoy the recreation the area offers in winter and summer. Needless to say, we could have done it, but 4 of us would have had to share a one bedroom apartment, no pets, no smoking and no parking on the street out front as we had one designated space behind the place, and we could only lease for six months because a seasonal worker already had the lease for the following six months when they would return for their job. I don't know about the rest of the country, but for someone that lives in Wyoming, that kind of living arrangement is just nonsense. Who wants to go through all that to live and work and go skiing? Maybe you would make enough to put some in savings but only if you didn't spend a penny outside of rent and food. If you aren't already established and own a house and property in that area, or have a professional contractor's license, then good luck making a life there. I'm gonna guess that wealthy people learned about the ways they could evade taxes here and when they came here to buy property they went where they were able to have all the luxuries they normally required and Teton county was the only place that came close. I live in southeast Wyoming about an hour and 15 minutes from Colorado, but Denver International Airport is another two hours more, which is where most of us have to go if we plan on taking a flight anywhere. That's where we have to go for a professional baseball, basketball, football, hockey, or soccer game as well as music festivals and concerts. But airing up the tubes and floating down the river 2 or 3 times in a day, or hiking a few miles to a secret fishing spot and bringing home walleye for supper is something that most folks will only experience when they take a vacation at some point in their life. That's if they choose an outdoor adventure as opposed to Disney or Branson or Vegas. Someone told me to check out satellite views of the united states during night time when you can see lights sprinkled in between the cities that are super bright and you notice a big dark area where Wyoming is. That's how we like it. And for those people in Wyoming that told you "so what?" They don't speak for the majority of us here, I promise you that!
