There expenditures are related to accidents, not age related health concerns. Pre ACA those people could have bought insurance insanely cheap, you ruined that with the foolish change. My insurance background allows me to speak as an expert in this field. YOur common good idea of spreading your age related health issues to the youth was a failed idea from the start, which is exactly why they made it mandatory. The only people who paid more were risk individuals such as myself, with a heart attack. Rightly so, i should pay more i am ALREADY SICK. No one else should be responsible for my health but ME.

As I feared, Barbara is a confirmed post-modernist. Phil, if you're a liberal in the classic sense of the word, be prepared to have your article twisted and abused. The post-modernists who teach classes like thooose aren't interested in reason or rationality, as they use an ends justify the means approach to 'truth.' It was a largely Republican Supreme Court that handed down Roe v Wade. I approved. But the tacticians in the party recognized the abortion issue could be turned into a new abolition movement to win votes. Minnesota's GOP had a pro choice state platform in 1972. Not long afterwards I started getting called a baby killer at GOP conventions. I began describing the GOP as a version of the movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

So that makes me an irredentist. Those are the folks who become estranged from their countries after they are taken over by different people. Think Tibetans angry about being overrun by Han Chinese by Beging's demographic policy of settlement redistribution.

I hung in the GOP intermittently until 2006. Then I spent about 5 years going to DFL precinct caucuses. They at least said nice things about Lincoln. But I don't feel like a Democrat and what the GOP has become is an insult to my family's Republican history. That's my message. I've never been a Republican. For a while, I thought I was a Democrat. There in lies the problem. The two party system is a farce. You have a choice, but it's between two authoritarian parties that use government as a tool to enrich themselves and their moneyed supporters, at the literal expense of everyone else. I'm not sure what your ideals are with respect to what you hope government is, but with respect to what government actually is, can't we celebrate Trump for the disruptive force that he is?

This didn't work either! The last time Trump was in Duluth, the response by the DFL was anemic, at best. If you get outside of Duluth, much of the rest of district 8 is pro-Trump, or at least, very lukewarm towards the DFL.
