Hi Smile and Nod,

Hagee's name wasn't lodged in my head but some of his past actions were. I see he was listed last year on some Nationalist Israeli group's list as the 27th most important American friend of Israel since the nation's founding. That factoid was on his Wikipedia entry.

I agree with you generally. Life, time and events force all ideologies to alter their ideas lest they disappear due to irrelevance. I just hope that this doesn't happen to proponents of democracy. The strong man ethos is proudly waving its banner these days.

There is nothing funny about it Juan. NO humor intended. Your weak response isn't funny either. So it turned out Sen Warrens DNA testing dispelled a strong presence of Native American heritage. The Right Wing Republicans jumped for joy, as if this made it ok for them to attack her on this subject, even while standing neck deep in the Trump political septic tank of GOP lunacy. And they continued to use the same ethnic slur on her that you did. It doesn't matter if she holds any Native American Ancestry or not. That hardly makes it OK to go ahead and use it anyway. The only thing I find "funny" is that you would think this absolves you of of the discredit you deserve for doing so. Then you have the misguided audacity in your last sentence to state "sexist remark, maybe". The term "Pochahontas" when used in the negative as you did is both sexist and an attack on the persons ethnicity. Doesn't matter if she was 0% or 100% Native American, your negative intention was very thoroughly clear as was your weak attempt at running cover for having used it. I'd be quite willing to bet that the Native community would have my back on this, not yours...

Marc, this is very similar to the wealthy parents who lied to get their kids into elite colleges, she lied about her heritage to advance. That speaks volumes about her character. She's fake. Make sure you interview at least 32 random Native Americans to get a good sample, go for it.

Are you there MNcrmdgn? You don't like the fact that the Bill of Rights was created to appease the Anti Federalists, or are you doing some reading to try to combat this obvious flaw in your reasoning? Madison created the Bill of Rights so the Anti Federalists would join the Union. One of those was the 2nd amendment, which was created so the states (Anti Federalists) could defend themselves from a repressive Federal Government. IT'S THAT SIMPLE.

First off, I don't have to interview anyone to know that you are on the wrong side of the fence here. You are reaching all over the place to defend your use of an ethnic slur. Your attempt at deflecting to the college admission scandal leaves me shaking my head as well. I really don't care what the Senator said or did, you have nothing to defend your use of the slur with. It is indefensible, under any circumstance.

Madison, too, thought a Bill of Rights unnecessary. He very skillfully managed its composition when it became necessary in order to secure ratification. So what?

Obvious flaw? And you're going argue that the 2nd Amendment's right to arms was therein guaranteed only to states and not individuals?
I'm not interested in continuing this exchange ad nauseum. I will not be baited further. Unless you write something interesting, I will assume that you are merely establishing your place on the moron spectrum.

You have no clue how the relationship between power works between the state and federal government. Having the second amendment in the Bill of rights garunteed the Federal Government could not take away those right. The states could, but states run by anti federalists didn’t worry about the state taking away those rights. Madison and Hamilton were both Federalists who wanted more power for the Federal Government. I don’t get why you keep dancing around that fact. Madison was no staunch believer in individual rights, and Hamilton simply used rhetoric to try to convince people that somehow having more government would mean more freedom, and simply fast forward to today to demonstrate he was wrong.

I disagree that it is an ethnic slur in this context, as she is not an Indian. You're pontificating.

Sorry Painted Pony about my confusion over your handle. Yours is part of a great lyric in a Blood Sweat and Tears song.

I understand Omar's point of view. Obama was only human although a better one, in my estimation, than Omar gives him credit for being. It's easy for me and you to be candid. You are anonymous and I am a has been. Someday Omar will be a has been too. When that time comes she will either be considered a visionary or a pol who shot off her mouth and undermined her mission or maybe a bit of both.

I am sort of old school. I am prepared to show some deference towards those I deam worthy of it. Omar still fits in that category and I like her sense of fun and mischief. I hope she doesn't lose that as she matures in her politics.

And you are thrashing about trying to defend something that can't be defended. You are suggesting that apparently there are circumstances under which the use of an ethnic slur is acceptable, and there are none. Period. Not in a civil society.

Yes, Marc, that is something comedians do every day. Since I'm not calling an Indian an ethnic slur, there is no racism here I am picking on a white person for pretending to be an Indian. Perhaps you need to get a grip.

I'm guessing she'll need to become more Obama-like as she gains experience, though she simply have a position that's a given on some issues and be expected to speak out on them.

Oh Phil. The problem with what conservatives (and some progressives) call activist judges is that they take the legislative responsibility away from the law makers though re-interpreting the law as opposed to actually writing and passing new law. Take the 2nd amendment for example. If the people of the country want an amendment that says "Gun ownership by consent of the ruling elite" then write a damned amendment that says that and get it passed, otherwise STFU about interpretations vs original intent.

Well, it's abundantly clear to most on here that you are no comedian. And having a HS friend who has been a standup for the last 40 years, I'm well aware of the boundaries of comedy. By your logic though, I can go knock on my next door white guy neighbors door and call him a N***** and that's ok eh? Thats what you are basically saying. It's tough watching you go through so many contortions trying to defend that which can't be defended. Perhaps you might need to "get a grip"...
