In the open expanses of the western U.S., such cavernous mine operations might not seem as significant--even though they all leave behind a toxic trail. But in northeast Minnesota, we don't have that expanse of open, dry land. The sulfide deposits are located between Lake Superior, Lake Vermilion, and the Boundary Waters. What could we possibly be thinking?

Let's look at the bright side. Despite their somewhat rocky start, they have cultivated a relationship with a company (Veteran Films) that says they are going to be doing at least 2 more films up there. That's good for them, and the region. Hopefully this can be built upon to turn this thing in to a thriving business. Building a business takes time, and hard work. These guys seem to be moving forward that way.
