Love this article absolutely amazing couldnt have said it better. Thankyou for being a voice for us, all of us women. I cant imagine this being my daughter or my sister. This girl is my friend a very dear friend to me and I love her as my sister. And truthfully when this happends to someone it could happen to anyone of us. If I need help I wouldnt want to call them and its their job! Im outraged by this and too sadly it happends too often but when it eventually happends to someone close to us it hits home like a ton of bricks. What happened to for the people by the people? These cops think they are above all of us as well as the law they claim to uphold. And we pay their salaries how about that for a slap in the face. Disgusting! The cops who stood there and watched that are just as guilty, cowards. Only a coward would do that to a woman. I feel bad for his wife who could she call?
Perfectly said....I am an African-American mother with two daughters, one whom resides in Duluth,MN and the other one in White Bear Lake,MN. Natasha is my grandsons aunt, whom he loves, and this has really hit home. God knows what really happened that night and I pray that His will and justice will be done. With that said, Natasha keep our head up and continue to pray for peace and justice...Much love, Jackie Harrell-Hodrick(Tee's mom)
I am a mother of a 1/2 Black son. A Duluth East teacher told him not to hang out with other African Americans because it may bring him down. I watched the video of Natasha and feel the cop pummeled her with enormous hostility. Too bad he did not go through the Rodney King enlightenment phase or maybe he was strung out too long in a Wisconsin Bar before he realized his moment of truth.
Hi Mel
Interesting read. I did not know you were from Cleveland. I grew up there too. I didn't follow the Barons but did make it to Browns and Indians games. I was a little after you so remember Sudden Sam McDowell, Sonny Siebert, Rocky Colavito and some others. Jimmy Brown was great to watch on TV back then too. We will have to talk someday.
As the father of a daughter, I could not agree with you more, Amy. Very well done. I wish I knew that more parents and more teachers were reading this column and taking it seriously. No home and no classroom should now be guilty of perpetuating the kinds of stereotypes and the kinds of behaviors you are writing about here. Powerful, timely, and significant! Thank you.
Clearly PolyMet's proposal is not a rational, reasonable endeavor at resource development. It's an act of desperation. And desperate people do desperate things -- like fudge inconvenient facts and duck from the data. These foreign mining moguls are desperate to continue hoodwinking communities that are fiercely proud of their iron mining history into believing they'll bring back the 'glory days' with no price to pay. Given these tough economic times, it's understandable why folks up here in Ely where we live have fallen prey to wishful thinking. But what's not understandable is why not a single Minnesota politician has the backbone to call this one like it is: an emperor with no clothes.
I love the Molly - MIT comment it sums things up nicely and I'm glad other people in the community get the seriousness of the issue I filed the complaint about. Thank you.
The officials identified the shooter as Army Spec. Ivan Lopez, 34, a military truck driver, who was dressed in his standard-issue green camouflage uniform. Lopez opened fire in two locations on the vast central Texas post, inside a building housing the 1st Medical Brigade and in a facility belonging to the 49th Transportation Battalion.
Police spent Wednesday night searching his apartment in Killeen, the city that abuts the Army facility. Gen. Mark A. Milley, the commander of Fort Hood, said the soldier, whom he did not identify by name, served four months in Iraq in 2011.
Milley said the shooter “had behavioral health and mental health issues.” He said the soldier, who self-reported a traumatic brain injury and was taking anti-depressants, had been under examination to determine whether he had post-traumatic stress disorder. “We are digging deep into his background,” Milley said.
Great article Jane! I agree with most of what you say in it. I'm an every day average person like yourself and have had my fair share of loans but one thing you could have added was that the lady at Wisconsin auto title loans is helpful and has great customer service. Also that she is on top of things like getting out a lien release when some are disorganized and misplace it lol but overall you hit this right on the nose great writing.
HA! Canada wins again double gold men and women in back to back olympics, Canadians have earned every right to be arrogant about hockey, when you have dominated the game for as long as Canada has its natural. No country has won more in Hockey than Canada. The US should go back to baseball, a sport they can't even win at its your national sport? Canada gold, US 4th place, seems about right. Ta ta.
"For most of us altruistic Minnesotans, the assassination of Paul Wellstone was another punch to the solar plexus ... "
Huh? What a bunch of conspiratorial gibberish. Did you happen to even read the NTSB report? Do you know anything about aviation? Do you know anything about weather? Does Snowshoefilm have any journalistic integrity at all? Talk about special interest ideologues trotting out a bunch of hand-picked observations, amateur analysis, and half-baked conclusions in an attempt to control (fabricate) a "story". Regardless of what you think of Wellstone, this kind of overt censorship, distorted propaganda, and conspiratorial hysteria makes these kinds of articles laughable.
