Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra Concert with the Quartet Project

In its first public concert in nearly two years, the Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra will premiere BRITTLE, BRIGHT, the final work of LSCO bassoonist and resident composer Bradley Bombardier, who passed away in 2019. The performance also represents the creative contributions of two local artists: Mina Kaiser who completed the orchestration, and mezzo soprano Sarah Knott, soloist in the work. Knott initially conceived the idea of commissioning a work around BRITTLE, BRIGHT, a volume of poetry by Marion Thompson van Steenwyk. Van Steenwyk was born in Superior, educated in Duluth public schools and studied poetry at the University of Minnesota Duluth. The July 28 concert will include high school students from the Quartet Project, performing in the lobby prior to the concert and side by side with the LSCO. The Quartet Project is a summer chamber music program coordinated by the LSCO, returning for its 23rd season.
