Charlie’s chaotic school clubs

Ed Raymond

They might have been Charlie Kirk fans.

Turning Point USA is on a one-way street going the wrong way
So, Scott Hennen in his Fargo Forum column wrote he had promised Charlie Kirk he would make North Dakota the top state in the country in the number of high school and college students joining Turning Point USA on a per capita basis.

He added: “I intend to keep that promise. Turning Point USA has built thousands of high school and college chapters nationwide, creating opportunities for students to organize debate ideas, become civically engaged and develop leadership skills. We want North Dakota students to have the same opportunity. So, I have an assignment for every parent and grandparent reading this column.”

There is not a word about what Turning Point USA’s political platform is. Not a word about Christian Nationalism, democracy, the role of religion, separation of church and state, racial discrimination, Second Amendment support, gun control, affirmative actions, voting rights, the Jan. 6 insurrection, climate change, forever wars, universal healthcare, parental leave, Social Security, immigration, Artificial Intelligence, economic inequality, and not a word about its position on 10 percent of the North Dakota population, the LBGTQUIA* community  of at least 80,000, including 8,000 transgender people.

Nary a single word. That’s why I’m going to supply words that came out of Charlie Kirk’s mouth.
Saida Grundy, a Black Professor of Sociology at Boston University, has compiled an extensive list of his race-baiting, xenophobic, Islamophobic and misogynistic commentary and published much of it in The Guardian.

She writes he also popularizes his cruelty, humiliation, and dehumanization of his political opponents – especially when talking to college students. He told them: “empathy was a made-up new age term that does a lot of damage.”

Here are a few direct quotes from Charlie’s views on life in the U.S.

• Gun deaths were worth it to maintain the Second Amendment and gun rights. You will never live in  a society when you have an armed citizenry and you won’t have a single gun death. I think it’s worth it. The Second Amendment is a God-given right.

• Black women in government and media lacked brain processing power.

• Media figures and government employees who threatened my advocacy for free speech and rights for free speech should be fired from their jobs. (Turning Point USA published a Professor Watchlist listing the names of and information of any academics with views incompatible with his own should be fired.)

• Those who sought to overthrow America should be celebrated as its heroes before Black Americans would be treated as its citizens.

• Any person sentenced to death should be put to death in public, it should be quick and it should be televised.

• Joe Biden is a bumbling dementia-filled Alzheimer’s corrupt tyrant who should be honestly put in prison and/or given the death penalty for his crimes against America.

• Michelle Obama, like other Black women, does not have brain processing power to otherwise be taken seriously.

• Martin Luther King was an awful.

• The 1964 Civil Rights Act was a huge mistake.

• I can’t stand the word empathy.

• Democrats are for a great replacement program to replace white people in America.

• Happening at this time in urban America, Blacks are going around for fun targeting white people.

• There should be Nuremberg trials for doctors who provide gender-affirming care for transgender people.

• Transgender people are abominations unto God. Men need to take care of transgender people like they did in the 1950s and 1960s. I like “Don’t Say Gay” laws. Disney is degenerate and is held hostage by their gay employees.

• It is God’s perfect law for people to stone gay people to death.

• Club America for high schools is the leading the movement for freedom-loving American values such as capitalism and limited government.

• Young people should extoll the Gospel wherever they go and they should evangelize. Take a Christian stance on anything.

• Abortion is murder and should be illegal. Democrats stand for everything God hates.

• People should believe in the Seven Mountains Mandate where believers take command of seven spheres of influence: education, entertainment, media, religion, family, business, and government.

• America’s origins are often known as Christian Nationalism.

• No civilization has collapsed because it prayed too much.

• The drug hydroxychloroquine is 100% effective in treating COVID19. I’m against vaccines.

• The transgender thing happening in America is a throbbing middle finger to God. Men cannot become women and vice versa

• Jews are attempting to erase White America by flooding the country with immigrants. Women and people of color, how can you agree with that or think that’s normal?

• DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) invites unwholesome thinking.

• Haitians are eating neighbor’s pets.

• “Foetus” is just a word for a human being.

• A patriot should bail out Paul Pelosi’s attacker.

This is my shortest column ever — but it tells the whole story of Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA and its America Clubs in high schools and colleges.

Kirk was 18 when he started Turning Point USA in his parent’s garage. When he was assassinated at age 31 he had established an estate worth $12 million. His personal holdings included three high-end homes, a $4.75 million estate near Phoenix, a nearby apartment, and a beachside condominium on Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Republicans support the following policies according to polls:

• gun control background checks-92%

• outlaw untraceable ghost guns from the streets-80%

• require a license to carry a gun-78%.

But Congress doesn’t act.

The following song by Oscar Hammerstein should be used in elementary school classes and music class:

”You’ve Got To Be Carefully Taught”:
You’ve got to be taught to hate and fear/ You’ve got to be taught from year to year
It’s got to be drummed in your dear little ear-/You’ve got to be taught!
You’ve got to be taught to be afraid/ Of people whose eyes are oddly made
And people whose skin is a different shade-/you’ve got to be taught before it’s too late
Before you are six or seven or eight/ To hate all the people your relatives hate-
You’ve got to be carefully taught!/  You’ve got to be carefully taught!
I was cheated before/ And I’m cheated again/ By a mean little world/ Of mean little men.
And the one chance for me/ Is the life I know best.
To be on an island/ And to hell with the rest/ I will cling to the island
Like a tree or a stone. I will cling to the island/ And be free and alone.
