Two-day event packed with activities to honor the history, appreciate the community and look forward to the next 50 years. Most daytime activities are free and family-friendly. Concert by Boxcar Friday evening at 8 in the Skyline Chalet.

A Bell Noël

First United Methodist (Coppertop) Church
Duluth-based, church-based, community/professional handbell ensemble, founded in 1984 and touring internationally, rings in the season at home along with some talented musical friends.  They play on six octaves of bronze Schulmerich handbells with aluminum Malmark bass bells, seven octaves of chimes, two octaves of Silver Melody Bells, and three octaves of Petit and Fritzen handbells.

Rubber Chicken Theater’s annual irreverent look back at some of events of the past year, including “Who Framed Roger Reinert’s Girlfriend?”, “Kathy Cargill’s Park Point Golden Cheerios Breakfast Buffet” and “The Delicious New Rubber Chick-fil-A Theater Sandwich.”

The nationally touring Listeso String Quartet performs carols while illuminated with thousands of candles, creating an intimate, multi-sensory musical experience in the spectacular Masonic Temple.

The Northland’s favorite Celtic traditional music groups stage traditional and contemporary holiday music from Ireland, Newfoundland, Scotland, Canada, Norway and the U.S. Holiday entertainment in the Celtic style.

Festivus
Monday, Dec. 23, 5-8 pm
Klockow Brewing, Grand Rapids
With music by Sam Miltich and hosted by Ditty Wish, it will be a night where memories are made and grievances are aired! Come for the potluck dinner but stay for the unadorned aluminum poll and feats of strength, including leg wrestling. There will be a drop box where you can anonymously write down your grievances to be randomly drawn to be read on stage.

Another holiday at the pub! Bartender Morgie Toast be making food again. Feel free to bring in something if you’d like. Otherwise come in and have some homemade goodies. DJ at 10 pm and a mantle filled with surprise Christmas treats.
