Dumb politicians Series #24

It has been said “Dumb politicians are not the problem. The problem are the dumb people that keep voting for them.”

Republican actions hurt people
On Sept. 25, 100 Republicans (82 in the house and 18 in the Senate) voted against the  stopgap funding bill to avoid a gov-ernment shutdown. This included $20 billion in FEMA funding, but this was less than proposed by Democrats. A group of far right Republicans were successful in stripping additional disaster relief money from the bill.

Now Florida Republicans are criticizing FEMA and demanding more money for Florida.

Feeding and housing people is a threat to America
In a recent radio interview Donald Trump attacked Kamala Harris for wanting to address the lack of affordable housing and hunger in America. He accused Harris of being a communist for wanting to house and feed people.
He said “She wants to [do] government housing. She wants to go into government feeding. She wants to feed people. She wants to feed people governmentally...She wants to go into a community party-type system. When you look at the things that she proposes, they’re so far off. She has no clue.”
It should be noted that Donald’s father made money off of government housing projects. Donald, who inherited his wealth from his father, is the clueless one.

Hurricane Helene was a liberal conspiracy
Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is again proving she is a competitor for dumbest politician.
She posted on X, “Yes they can control the weather. It’s ridiculous for anyone to lie and say it can’t be done.”
“They” apparently refers to the Biden administration.
Republicans like Marjorie   claim the hurricane (and inadequate disaster relief) was cooked up to punish Trump supporters in the effected states.
“It’s frankly ridiculous, and just plain false. This kind of rhetoric is not helpful to people,” said Deanne Criswell, head of FEMA. “It’s really a shame that we’re putting politics ahead of helping people, and that’s what we’re here to do.”
But this is what happens when fools and conspiracy addicts like Greene get elected.

More lies about FEMA
Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-WI) is spreading MAGA lies about FEMA and the recent hurricanes.
In his Oct. 11 newsletter, he repeats the false claim that Biden has been using FEMA disaster relief money for illegal immigrants. He wrote, “Even though FEMA grants are meant to help taxpaying Americans prepare for and recover from natural disasters, the Biden-Harris administration has used FEMA funds to facilitate illegal immigration into the United States...the Biden-Harris administration has spent over $1 billion of FEMA funds on food, shelter, transportation, hygiene products, and health care for illegal aliens.”

NBC News, ABC News, NPR, USA Today and other reputable new services say Republican claims that disaster relief money has been used to feed and house illegal aliens is not true. These sources explain that FEMA  has multiple programs and separate pots of money for different purposes. Biden administration didn’t steal $1 billion of relief money from FEMA  for migrants. FEMA funding for the homeless (including homeless migrants) does not short change disaster relief spending.

NBC News says, “There is no evidence that disaster relief funds were used on immigrants in the U.S. illegally. FEMA disaster money comes from dedicated funds that cannot be used for other purposes.”
NPR News comments, “Rumors, misinformation and lies about the federal government’s response to Hurricane Helene in the southeastern United States have run rampant since the storm made landfall, especially around funding for the Federal Emergency Management Agency.”
Tiffany, as usual, is misrepresenting the facts. He either doesn’t understand how FEMA works or he is deliberately lying to attack Biden and Harris.
Or, maybe, just maybe, he really is a blockheaded idiot.
