The Gadfly hit it on the head

Ed Raymond hit it on the nail about  the rich versus the poor. On the TV  today they were saying about the CEO of John Deere getting a 160% bonus but can’ understand why the employees feel that they deserve a 6% raise and to keep their pensions. Another thing when ever the subject of raising the minimum wage they say that it would hurt the small businesses; not true most small businesses pay more than the minimum wage. It’s the big corporations that do not, usually. I would love to see a CEO try to live on what the average worker has to live on with the high prices nowadays.

Thanks for the puzzles

I’m so happy that you have put the sudoku and word search back in your paper! I have been a faithful reader of your paper for years since I can get it at many places here in Iron River. Thank you to all of you for a great newspaper!

Heads will roll

A hard lesson learned over the years is that religion and the state are bad bedfellows.

With the recent rise of the Taliban controlling Afghanistan, we will witness the draconian practice of Shariah laws. The theocratic indoctrination in the madrasas molds one for cruelty.

Eventually, heads roll and stoning comes back.

Fear and dread are instilled and the human spirit is weeping.
