Bent Paddle is proud to introduce Pink Boots ComPASSIONate Ale – a beer that was brewed alongside the national Pink Boots Society for their Pink Boots Collaborative Brew Day and Barley's Angels, a women’s brewing education collective in the Twin Ports, held Sunday, March 8, to commemorate International Women’s Day!

Starting April 2, Pink Boots Compassionate Ale will be available in Bent Paddle’s quick To-Go Taproom, 1832 W. Michigan St.

The beer is a Hoppy Red Ale infused with passionfruit and apricot. Due to COVID-19 Bent Paddle had to cancel the official release event for this beer but people can still get a taste of it for home in Growlers and Crowlers from Bent Paddle’s quick To-Go Taproom or Curbside Delivery (218.279.2722 Ext. 320) between 2-6 pm Tuesday-Saturdays while supplies last.

Throughout the brew day, Bent Paddle saw a great turnout, as about 20 female & female-identifying beer professionals and enthusiasts from around the Twin Ports (and even a few from Minneapolis) came to lend a hand in their pilot brewery. Some notables included Bent Paddle co-foundresses Laura Mullen &andKaren Tonnis, as well as Melissa Rainville, a brewer at Summit Brewing Co., Allyson Rolph, head brewer of Earth Rider Brewing Co., and Kathleen Culhane, head brewer at Thirsty Pagan Brewing.

The intention of the day was to provide an environment that is inclusive and inviting. A place where it’s safe for women who are not well represented in the brewing industry to brew together, learn, and ask questions and ultimately raise the profile of women’s role in the brewing industry.

Special hops were used in the brewing that was purchased to benefit the Pink Boots Society Scholarship Fund for women interested in entering the brewing field, and some proceeds from the To-Go Sales of this beer will later benefit Duluth’s Safe Haven Shelter & Resource Center, whose needs servicing domestic abuse victims and their children have increased due to the COVID-19 crisis.

“We cannot wait to share this Compassionate Collaboration with you to celebrate women in our industry - Cheers!” said Bent Paddle Co-Foundress Karen Tonnis. #pinkbootsbrew #crowlersinhands
