Thy choicest gifts in store, On her be pleased to pour, Long may she reign
Brexit. The British voting public has spoken. Globalism is on the ropes! The United Kingdom has decided to opt-out of the European Union!
The future of the noble experiment of the united states of Europe is in doubt. Born amid the ashes of World War II, the European Economic Union was created to protect the economic strength of the nation-states of Europe, provide for free movement of people, goods and general commerce. “We are asking the nations of Europe between whom rivers of blood have flowed to forget the feuds of a thousand years.” blustered Winston Churchill, at the time.
What seemed like great idea, over time, lost it’s original charm, and became a breeding ground for multi-national profiteering, exploitation of lesser nations under the guise of “globalism”, and ultimately, a socialist mess. Globalism, on it’s face, sounds like a great idea. According to the Oxford American Dictionary, globalism is the advocacy of “the interpretation or planning of economic and foreign policy in relation to events and developments throughout the world.” In its most extreme forms it is sometimes expressed using terms such as “one world,” support for a single world government, and/or terms such as “world citizen” or “global citizen.”
But the insightful are never fooled by shiny words and well-seeming intentions. Nelson Mandela saw right through it. “Where globalization means, as it so often does, that the rich and powerful now have new means to further enrich and empower themselves at the cost of the poorer and weaker, we have a responsibility to protest in the name of universal freedom.” The goal is one world government. When the line between corporate interests and governmental entities is too blurry, freedom suffers. When the people are taught to equate economic prosperity with freedom, you get a population that is ripe for the poison of socialism to exploit. Churchill again, “Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”
Despite dire warnings and predictions of economic calamity, I predict that little woe will result from this vote. Europe needs Britain, perhaps even more than Britain needs Europe. This is just a body-blow to the globalists and their ruinous agenda of world control. Did you ever wonder why so few families control so much over there? Did you ever wonder why Switzerland is not a member of the EU? Switzerland is neither an EU nor EEA (European Economic Area) member but is part of the single market - this means Swiss nationals have the same rights to live and work in the EU as other EEA nationals. I don’t see the Swiss suffering terribly.
“Do not let spacious plans for a new world divert your energies from saving what is left of the old.” -Winston Churchill
God Save the Queen!
